As I previously had some professional involvement with Sheffield’s street trees in 2012 when the Streets Ahead PFI contract began, I have taken a keen interest in following the events there of late. Not many arboricultural stories make the national press so what is happening in Sheffield is rather unique – and unfortunate.
I recently wrote an article about Sheffield’s street trees and the PFI contract for the Arboricultural Association’s magazine which was published in the summer edition. I was really glad the AA were willing to publish this piece as our sector has at times been conspicuously quiet about what’s happening – I suspect because it’s actually quite a complex issue!
