Case Study

Client:
Commercial Estates Group (CEG)

Brief:
To provide Arboricultural survey and consultancy support to the development of a large residential development

Details:

CEG are a property investment and development company specialising in delivering high quality residential, office and mixed-use schemes. CEG’s masterplanning process emphasises locally responsive design to deliver enduring benefits to the environmental, social and economic wellbeing of the area.

As part of a multi-disciplinary project team we were appointed to provide specialist arboricultural advice on development potential within the subject site.

The site in question is approximately 40 acres in size and heavily treed. The nature of the site offered a unique opportunity to provide new homes with considerable open space offering Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG) in existing woodland areas.

Through a thorough assessment of the site’s arboricultural resource, past silvicultural operations and an assessment of statutory and non-statutory designations we were able to help define the most suitable development footprint that safeguarded the most valuable trees on site. Through the iterative design process the consultancy advice we provided allowed the proposed development to be planned for successful integration into the existing site features as well as sensitively opening up public access to beautifully areas of woodland.
